Hot Paws!

Asphalt and concrete can be 20-30°F hotter than the air temperature—meaning on an 85°F day, pavement could reach over 130°F! If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your pup’s paws! Try pressing the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds—if it’s uncomfortable, it’s unsafe for your dog. Burned paw pads can cause pain, peeling, and difficulty walking—always check for redness or blisters after outdoor playtime!

How to Keep Your Dog Safe:
Walk your pup in the morning or evening when the pavement is cooler.
Stick to grass or shaded paths whenever possible.
Consider paw protection like booties or balms for extra safety.
Never force your dog to walk on hot surfaces—always check first!

Let’s keep those paws happy, healthy, and burn-free this summer!
